Chronic diseases

In the context of influenza vaccination, the following conditions are recognized as chronic diseases:

  • Diabetes

  • Anatomical or functional asplenia

  • Conditions leading to immunosuppression (e.g. cancer, infection with

    HIV)

  • Chronic renal failure or nephrotic syndrome

  • Chronic heart or lung disease severe enough to require

    regular medical monitoring or hospital care

  • Asthma severe enough to require regular medical monitoring or treatment

    hospital,

  • Conditions leading to decreased secretion clearance

    respiratory or aspiration risks (e.g .: cognitive impairment, lesion

    spinal cord, seizure disorder, neuromuscular disorder)

  • Chronic liver disease

  • Anemia

  • Haemophilia

  • Significant obesity (BMI ≥ 40)

  • Inborn error of metabolism

  • Long-term treatment with acetylsalicylic acid (For young people aged

    under 18)
